Marathon Music from Alvvays, St. Vincent, Leikeli47, and more: The Weekly Connection Playlist 3

4 . 13 . 2018

This week, a collection of upbeat music from Boston Calling 9 artists to celebrate Boston’s Marathon Monday.

Hey all, for this week’s edition of the Weekly Connection – we decided to dedicate it to this year’s Boston Marathon. We put together a solid mix of upbeat tunes from BC9 artists to fuel the excitement of Boston’s Marathon Monday.

Featured in this week’s playlist is Canadian Indie Pop band & BC newcomers, Alvvays, with “Archie, Marry Me”. If you’re not familiar with Alvvays, this is a great introduction as the lighthearted tune shows off the true Cranberries & Best Coast influences they’re known for. Psych-rock band, Pond, also made it on to the playlist with their May 2017 release ‘Paint Me Silver’ – a perfect match for a positive race-day & actually is produced by BC alumni Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker.

Turning it up a little bit, we thought to include raucous stimulating rock n roll tunes such as QOTSA’s “Go With The Flow”, Manchester Orchestra’s “Shake It Out”, “Available” by BC-frequenters The National, and more. St. Vincent’s “Digital Witness” also made it on the playlist due to the fact that it is near impossible to not want to move to it & a great representation of St. Vincent’s “razor-sharp wit”. Rap tunes “BOOGIE” by BROCKHAMPTON and “Look” by Leikeli47 were also must-adds because we all know you can’t be truly amped up without some serious bass going through the speakers.

Whether you’re running, watching loved ones race, or just partaking in the celebratory festivities – we hope you enjoy this week’s playlist. We’ll catch you for next week’s release.

BROCKHAMPTON, Maggie Rogers, STL GLD + more: The Weekly Connection Playlist 2

4 . 6 . 2018

Get ready for this year’s festival with this weekly collection of Boston Calling artists

Hey everyone – here to share another playlist of what’s playing in our team’s earbuds.

Kicking off this week’s playlist is STL GLD’s hot brand-new track, “Donut Shop” – serving up some serious groovy old-school Hip Hop vibes & worth a listen. STL GLD is actually boston-based & its pretty cool, they actually collaborated with Somerville’s Union Square Donuts for the album artwork. On a similar page, we included BROCKHAMPTON’s “GOLD” – so zanny, light-hearted and backed up with some fresh alternative-Hip Hop beats they always bring to their tracks. If you’re not familiar with this eclectic rap crew/self-proclaimed “boy band”, check out their video for GOLD – it is completely ridden in ‘90s aesthetic and WILL make you want to befriend every single one of them by the end of it.

Honestly, there hasn’t been a week that goes by without listening to Maggie Rogers at least once & her breathtakingly beautiful acoustic version of ‘Alaska’ proves that that song is just too damn good to not be perfect in every form. Belly’s “Stars Align” also made it on the playlist – super ‘feel-good/everything is going to be OK’ track off their first album in 23 years. Wrapping up the playlist with Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” – because, well let’s not kid ourselves – that song never gets old.

Hope you dig the playlist & we’ll catch you for next week’s release.

The Weekly Connection Playlist: Listen to Boston Calling Artists

3 . 29 . 2018

Get ready for this year’s festival with this weekly collection of Boston Calling artists

Hey all –

We love music & we want to share it with you. Here is what is currently playing in our office. This weekly playlist, The Weekly Connection, will feature this year’s bands you know & love, bands you may not know, and a few Boston Calling throwbacks for good measure.

Kicking off the first playlist with a serious mix of BC artists – newcomers, returners, alumni, & some killer collaborations, too. Playlist highlights include a powerful anthem by Stormzy, because… well he’s just the best. (Sandy) Alex G’s truly beautiful “Bug” also makes an appearance, alongside equally beautiful & soulful throwback by the Dirty Projectors, “Rise Above”, which was originally included in bandleader Dave’s reinterpretation of Black Flag’s Damaged. Boston Calling frequenters, The National, also highlighted through their tune “Available” which is off one of their first albums but truly withstands the rest of time & is just so damn good. Rounding out the seriously ‘pull your heartstrings’ tunes is a fresh release from Manchester Orchestra & Julien Baker, a dark & brooding collaborative cover of Pedro the Lion’s “Bad Things to Such Good People”. Lastly, a must-listen, alumni Chance The Rapper’s “Finish Line/Drown” also features BC-newcomer Noname in a serious feel-good tribute to the unity of Chicago. Trust me, it is almost impossible to not have a great day once you listen to that song.

We hope you enjoy & stay tuned for next week’s release.

Live Now: The Boston Calling Interactive Lineup

3 . 14 . 2018

Favorite your must-see artists, access their Spotify playlist, and share, share, share.

It’s the age-old dilemma: when you have a festival as jam-packed with incredible talent as Boston Calling, how do you narrow down the list of who you want to see perform?

We’re here to help. In advance of set times being released in early May, we’ve launched the interactive Boston Calling lineup, where you can select and save your favorites, discover new artists you’ll want to add to your schedule, and share it all with your friends. Here’s how it works:

Access the interactive lineup. Go to the interactive lineup page on or the lineup section on the free Boston Calling app, which you can for iOS or Android for free.

Personalize your experience. Logging in with Facebook allows you to save and share your schedule.

Browse the artists. View artists by day, alphabetically, or by headliners. Favorite your no-brainers, and check out some of the artists, curated by the Boston Calling team, you may not have heard of before.

Discover new music. Each artist has a custom Spotify playlist on their interactive lineup page. Want to go deeper with some of your favorites, or check out artists you haven’t heard in the past? We have you covered on content.

Save your favorites. You’ll want to be prepared to make some hard decisions when set times are released (this is a good problem to have!). Creating your list of favorite artists now will prepare you for the inevitable friendly arguments about who you and your crew absolutely must see.

Share with your friends. You can email your list of favorites, along with the days they’re playing, to your friends right from the lineup. Get first-mover advantage by putting your must-sees out there before they do!

So what are you waiting for? The interactive lineup is live now on and in the Boston Calling app, which you can download for iOS or Android for free. Have fun, and we’ll see you in May!

The 9 Top Upgrades to the Boston Calling 9 Experience

2 . 15 . 2018

Image may contain: text

You think you know Boston Calling, but you have no idea.

This year, with a lineup featuring The Killers, Jack White, Eminem, and special programming from the likes of Natalie Portman, Pod Save America, and more in The Arena, the Boston Calling Music Festival celebrates our ninth year bringing a next-level music experience to the East Coast.

It’s also our second year at the Harvard Athletic Complex, which was triple – triple! – our previous site’s size. We had some growing pains, we listened to you, and we learned a lot. SO! Here are the top 9 upgrades you can expect to this year’s Boston Calling Music Festival experience.

FOOD We’re adding 50% more vendors this year, and most of them will accept Boston Calling’s speedy and convenient cashless payment wristbands.

ENTRY LINES We’ve added more real estate and doubled the number of entry lanes to cut down on the time it takes to get into the venue and get your Boston Calling on.

BATHROOMS Long lines be gone! We’ll have more bathrooms in better locations with dedicated maintenance teams.

SOUND Major upgrades here. Seriously, expect the Lamborghini of sound systems at all stages. Wait ‘til you hear the clarity!

BETTER CONNECTIVITY Snap that thing up! The entire site will have better connectivity so you can tweet, Insta, Facebook, text, or snap to your heart’s content.

MORE STUFF TO DO Obviously, there are more than enough killer artists on the lineup to keep you highly entertained, but we’ll also have more activations and art installations throughout the space.

NEW AND ECO-FRIENDLY WASTE PLAN  We’ve completely redone the trash plan, including better recycling capabilities and increased capacity.

SIGNAGE AND INFORMATION EVERYWHERE With a site triple our previous size – yeah, signage is important. There will be signage and people to answer any questions you have everywhere! Really! Maybe even too much! (OK, it won’t be too much.)

UPGRADES TO THE UPGRADES We’ve added a 20,000 square foot VIP and Platinum Lounge, as well as an all-new Platinum viewing experience. Did we mention that Sunday’s Platinum passes have already sold out? If you’re thinking about getting on VIP or Platinum, get on it already!

We can’t wait to welcome you to the new and massively upgraded Boston Calling Music Festival experience, May 25-27, 2018, at the Harvard Athletic Complex in Allston, MA. The link to buy tickets, you ask? Oh, it’s right here. You’re welcome.

New Comedian Added!
