The Arena: How to Secure Your Spot for Boston Calling’s Comedy Sets, Podcast Tapings, and More
5 . 14 . 2018
New this year: A guaranteed entry option!
Natalie Portman. David Cross. Pod Save America. Bridget Everett. That’s a small taste of the special programming happening in The Arena at Boston Calling this year. Featuring comedy sets, podcasts, and more, The Arena is one of Boston Calling’s many bright spots, but the trade-off for it being an intimate space is that it has limited capacity.
Don’t worry, though! This year, we’re offering a guaranteed admission option for superfans who have the Arena’s programming at the top of their Boston Calling list. Here’s the deal:
Want guaranteed admission? Show up early for a wristband.
- There will be 1,000 complimentary first come, first served guaranteed admission wristbands available when doors open each day (2.30p on Friday, and 12p on Saturday and Sunday).
- Wristbands will be available outside the Arena, which is to the left once you come through main entrance.
- Those with Arena wristbands, as well as Platinum pass holders, can enter the Arena through the Guaranteed Admission Entrance all day.
Want to chance it? No problem.
- The Arena will also have an entrance for those without Guaranteed Admission or Platinum wristbands.
- We will admit as many people from this line as capacity allows throughout the day.
- There are no re-admission privileges unless there is no line.
- ONCE THE ARENA OPENS, IT WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL THE ARENA PROGRAMMING ENDS EACH DAY
Do you have questions? We thought you might. See below, and we’ll see you there!
Q) I can’t get there early. Am I totally out of luck?
A) Not at all! The guaranteed admission wristbands only account for about a third of the Arena’s capacity.
Q) If I show up early, may I pick up wristbands for my friends?
A) No. In the interest of fairness, if you get there in time to score a wristband, you’ll get one for you, and we’ll put on your wrist at that time. You can’t pick up multiples.
Q) May I give my wristband to my friend once I’ve seen what I want to see?
A) Wristbands are non-transferable.
Q) I have a three-day ticket. May I get there early on Friday and pick up a three-day wristband?
A) Wristbands are single-day only. If you have a three-day pass and you’d like guaranteed admission multiple days, come back early on those days.
Q) Is there a cost for the Guaranteed Admission Wristbands?
A) Wristbands are complimentary and only available when festival gates open, while supplies last!

Marathon Music from Alvvays, St. Vincent, Leikeli47, and more: The Weekly Connection Playlist 3
4 . 13 . 2018
This week, a collection of upbeat music from Boston Calling 9 artists to celebrate Boston’s Marathon Monday.
Hey all, for this week’s edition of the Weekly Connection – we decided to dedicate it to this year’s Boston Marathon. We put together a solid mix of upbeat tunes from BC9 artists to fuel the excitement of Boston’s Marathon Monday.
Featured in this week’s playlist is Canadian Indie Pop band & BC newcomers, Alvvays, with “Archie, Marry Me”. If you’re not familiar with Alvvays, this is a great introduction as the lighthearted tune shows off the true Cranberries & Best Coast influences they’re known for. Psych-rock band, Pond, also made it on to the playlist with their May 2017 release ‘Paint Me Silver’ – a perfect match for a positive race-day & actually is produced by BC alumni Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker.
Turning it up a little bit, we thought to include raucous stimulating rock n roll tunes such as QOTSA’s “Go With The Flow”, Manchester Orchestra’s “Shake It Out”, “Available” by BC-frequenters The National, and more. St. Vincent’s “Digital Witness” also made it on the playlist due to the fact that it is near impossible to not want to move to it & a great representation of St. Vincent’s “razor-sharp wit”. Rap tunes “BOOGIE” by BROCKHAMPTON and “Look” by Leikeli47 were also must-adds because we all know you can’t be truly amped up without some serious bass going through the speakers.
Whether you’re running, watching loved ones race, or just partaking in the celebratory festivities – we hope you enjoy this week’s playlist. We’ll catch you for next week’s release.

BROCKHAMPTON, Maggie Rogers, STL GLD + more: The Weekly Connection Playlist 2
4 . 6 . 2018
Get ready for this year’s festival with this weekly collection of Boston Calling artists
Hey everyone – here to share another playlist of what’s playing in our team’s earbuds.
Kicking off this week’s playlist is STL GLD’s hot brand-new track, “Donut Shop” – serving up some serious groovy old-school Hip Hop vibes & worth a listen. STL GLD is actually boston-based & its pretty cool, they actually collaborated with Somerville’s Union Square Donuts for the album artwork. On a similar page, we included BROCKHAMPTON’s “GOLD” – so zanny, light-hearted and backed up with some fresh alternative-Hip Hop beats they always bring to their tracks. If you’re not familiar with this eclectic rap crew/self-proclaimed “boy band”, check out their video for GOLD – it is completely ridden in ‘90s aesthetic and WILL make you want to befriend every single one of them by the end of it.
Honestly, there hasn’t been a week that goes by without listening to Maggie Rogers at least once & her breathtakingly beautiful acoustic version of ‘Alaska’ proves that that song is just too damn good to not be perfect in every form. Belly’s “Stars Align” also made it on the playlist – super ‘feel-good/everything is going to be OK’ track off their first album in 23 years. Wrapping up the playlist with Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” – because, well let’s not kid ourselves – that song never gets old.
Hope you dig the playlist & we’ll catch you for next week’s release.
